"Worthy Cause; Worth the Cost"
World Outreach Weekend: November 8-10
Each November, Valley Community Baptist Church recommits to the idea of World Outreach -- helping to fulfill the Great Commission, as Jesus commanded. On World Outreach Weekend we introduce our new theme for the coming year, enjoy visiting speakers and missionary guests, and encourage each attender to participate with our Pray/Give/Go approach to World Outreach.
Our 2024-25 World Outreach Theme
Jesus calls His disciples to fulfill the Great Commission and reach all nations with the Gospel. But it’s a challenging call!
“Worthy Cause; Worth the Cost” is our World Outreach theme this year, when we will consider the cost of being a follower of Jesus and the joy of sharing Him with the world.
What are those costs? We take time to pray for the cause. We budget money to give to World Outreach. We invest a week of our time to go on a short-term mission trip. During World Outreach Weekend, we hope you discover that this worthy cause is very much worth the cost!
World Outreach Weekend Services
SATURDAY, NOV. 9, AT 5 P.M.
SUNDAY, NOV. 10, AT 9 A.M. AND 10:45 A.M.
We're excited to welcome guest speaker Pastor Doug Gamble, a native of Nevada who has lived and worked in Costa Rica the past 25 years. Overall, Doug and his wife Laura have spent 38 years equipping missionaries and pastors. Currently, Doug teaches at the Seminario School of Pastoral Studies in San José, helping to train the rising number of Central and South American Christians entering the missionary field.
Commissioning Zell and Susan: Each worship service will also include a commissioning of Zell and Susan, longtime Valley members who in November head to the Middle East to begin their ministry as long-term missionaries. Let's give Zell and Susan a great send-off at our WOW Worship Services!

Meet a Missionary Partner
NOV. 8-10, VARIOUS TIMES
Our Missionary Partners will be visiting several groups and gatherings throughout the weekend, including regular kids and students classes, and some Community Groups and Care Groups. You can meet a missionary partner at our Saturday night dinner (6:15 p.m.), or in the Welcome Area before and after our worship services!
Thanksgiving Offering: Nov. 9-26
As usual, our annual Thanksgiving Offering will go “across the street and around the world” with each offering going toward these worthy causes. This is a special offering beyond our usual giving to the General Fund or World Outreach Fund.
Make your Thanksgiving Offering between Nov. 9-26 by going to the Give page and selecting "Thanksgiving" from the "Fund" drop-down menu.
World: Relief efforts in the Middle East and North Africa
Your offering will support our missionary partners in these areas. Countless people have experienced extreme hardship because of volatile conflict in the region. Our missionary partners are providing support, encouragement, relief, and hope to those who have been displaced and suffered tremendous loss.
Local: Pregnancy Crisis Centers
Your offering will provide life-affirming support to women in Connecticut. These centers come alongside women with free and confidential resources and services, including pregnancy tests and ultrasounds. Our Local Outreach partners provide a welcoming and judgment-free space where women can learn more about their options, empowering them to choose life.
