We know that life can be joyful and life can be painful. The Valley Care ministry seeks to provide people with hope and support through the redeeming love and transforming power of God. We offer both preventive and responsive care.

IN AN EMERGENCY

If you have an urgent need for pastoral care, call the church's main phone, 860.673.6826, and ask for the pastor on call. On a night, weekend, or holiday, listen to the phone message and follow the directions. If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911.

Celebrate Recovery

Thursdays at 7 p.m.
Wednesdays at 12 p.m.
A Christ-centered recovery program open to anyone seeking freedom from their hurts, habits and hang-ups.
No sign-up, commitment, or cost.

DivorceCare

Held twice a year at Valley Simsbury Church
A Christ-centered support group offering solace to those navigating the pain and confusion of separation or divorce.

GriefShare

Held twice a year
A compassionate, Christ-centered support group for those navigating the loss of a family member or friend.

Coping with Cancer

First Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.
A community of people who are living with cancer or caring for a loved one with cancer.
No sign-up, commitment, or cost.

Nourish and Nurture

First and Third Fridays at 9 a.m.
A group of Christian mothers who gather to learn and encourage one another.
No sign-up, commitment, or cost.

Hearts with Hope

Second Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.
A Christian group for mothers who are navigating the loss of a child.
No sign-up, commitment, or cost.

CARE SERVICES

 

Care Link

If you are unemployed or underemployed, in search of housing, or in need of financial counseling and would like to talk to someone about your situation, please contact the Care Ministry staff, and we would be happy to schedule an appointment with one of our staff members.

Faithful Hands

Second Saturdays at 7 a.m.
Faithful Hands is a group of men who serve single mothers, widows, or any other person in need of practical handyman services. The group meets for the first hour to build relationships, and review the list of work items. Then, they spend two hours assisting members of the community with house work and yard work, building relationships as they serve.

Helping Hands

Third Saturdays at 9 a.m.
Helping Hands is a group of women who provide short-term assistance to those who need help with small projects such as cleaning and organizing, grocery shopping, etc. Please contact the Care Ministry staff for more information.

Marriages in Crisis

Don't wait to take steps if you fear your marriage is in trouble. We'd like to help with tools to turn the tide. Call the Valley Care office at 860.673.6826 x108 to make an appointment.

Pastoral Counseling

Valley offers short-term pastoral counseling for those experiencing a personal crisis, such as marriage concerns, health problems, family matters, or questions about identity and purpose. Contact the Care Ministry staff to schedule a meeting time.

Visitation

If you or a loved one are home bound, in the hospital, or in a nursing home, Valley Care ministry offers visitation, anointing and communion. Contact the Care Ministry staff to schedule a meeting time.

DISABILITY MINISTRY

 

Friendship Community

Thursdays at 6 p.m. in Fellowship Hall
A group is for adults with physical and/or intellectual disabilities and their caregivers.
No sign-up, commitment, or cost.

Friendship Buddies for Preschoolers-Grade 12

If your child requires the assistance of a buddy during one of our church events, please contact Mary Swank in the Care Office prior to your first visit.

Friendship Bible Study

Mondays at 11 a.m. online via Zoom
A study group for adults with disabilities and their caregivers.
No sign-up, commitment, or cost.

Friendship Kids

Sundays at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
If inclusion into our regular Valley Kids classroom is not the best fit for your child, Friendship Kids is an alternative learning environment for children with special abilities. Please contact Mary Swank in the Care Office prior to your visit.

PRAYER

Healing Prayer

Individualized prayer meetings are available for those suffering from physical, mental, and/or emotional conditions. Contact the Care Ministry staff to schedule time with elders, pastors, and deacons for prayer, anointing and support.

Prayer Group

Valley's Prayer Group is a gathering of Valley attendees who spend time praying through the prayer requests that are submitted each weekend during worship service.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Valley attendees knit and crochet handmade shawls for those who are experiencing illness, grief or personal crisis. If you know someone who would like a prayer shawl, or if you would like to make a prayer shawl, please contact the Care Ministry staff. Yarn and instructions are provided.

Prayer Wall

Praying for others is an important part of caring for one another. If you have a prayer request or would like to pray for others in our community, visit our virtual Prayer Wall.

Prayer Room

Located near the Venue, Café, and Front Desk, Valley's Prayer Room is a quiet and peaceful place to pray through the provided stations, post prayer requests and spend time with God.

Praying for your Prodigal

Fourth Sundays at 10:15 a.m.
This group is specifically for those who would like to pray for a prodigal son or daughter and join in community with others who are in a similar season of their life. No sign-up, commitment, or cost.

Senior Adult Community, OWLS

Sundays at 9 a.m.
Our community of senior adults are affectionately known as the OWLS (Older Wise Loving Saints).

The Relationship Initiative

The Relationship Initiative is a series of events, ranging from date nights to large outreach opportunities, that are designed to enrich our relationships with those we care about the most.

Seminars and Celebrations

Valley Care sponsors several special events throughout the year, including seminars on how to cope with the loss of a spouse and how to survive the holidays, as well as annual celebrations for the Celebrate Recovery and Faithful Hands groups.

Urban Alliance

Urban Alliance works to create opportunities for people to achieve lasting change in their lives through the collaborative work of Christian churches and other partner organizations in our local community. Examples include Foster Care, Second Chance Programs, Mental Health Support and training and resources.

Joni and Friends

For those affected by disability, Joni and Friends is an amazing resource right here in New England providing care through Community Support, Respite, Retreats and Getaways, and Crisis Response.
