COVID-19: Valley Responds

April 20, 2020 9:00am

Today our department received lunches from your church. They were delicious and brought a smile to everyone’s face. What a kind, thoughtful, caring gesture! From all of us in Clinical Engineering, Pharmacy and Lab Medicine here at UConn Health ... Thank You!

As Valley's people navigate this unique season of life, we believe we all can be a blessing to our neighbors and each other, in the name of Jesus. Our giving allows our ministries to reach out to the sick, hurting, and vulnerable in Connecticut and around the world. Here are other ways we can all help shine a light on the world during a dark time ...

COVID-19 Donation Drive

You and your friends can participate in this drive safely by making a few extra purchases on your next grocery store trip, and then making a quick, safe stop in the Valley Avon parking lot.

Valley attendees have already contributed more than 4,500 pounds of food and goods! This drive benefits Gifts of Love, the Simsbury Food Pantry, and area hospitals. We're collecting groceries, sundries, and personal protective equipment.

Note: Please do not donate clothes or shoes.

Bring your products to the Valley Avon parking lot between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays. You'll see a Valley trailer in the visitor parking lot area with a Donation Drop-off sign. Just put your bags in the trailer, and we'll get them safely to their proper home.

We're encouraging the community to join us in this effort. We thank you for your generosity!

Red Cross Blood Drive

Valley Outreach is partnering with the American Red Cross to help fill the community's need for blood during the COVID-19 crisis. Our second blood drive will be Friday, June 19, from 1:30-6:30 p.m. in The Venue at Valley Avon. That room allows us to have dedicated entry/exit areas and to practice safe social distancing during the collection process.

Note that you must sign up for a time slot in advance of the day. To set up your time, call 1.800.733.2767 or sign up at

Meals for Hospital Workers

For more than a month, Valley Food  Ministry has prepared nearly 1,800 fresh meals for front-line staff and volunteers at our area hospitals and nursing homes. Each meal includesd a card of encouragement and inspiring Scripture. The entire initiative was fully funded by contributions from Valley attendees!

Thank you for your amazing generosity! Stay tuned for more updates about next steps in our "COVID-19: Valley Responds" initiative.
