Short Term Mission Trips - Why Go?

    Nov 10, 2021 |

We go to WORK, to encourage the host and serve the people.

Valley only offers trips when a host missionary wants us to come. We serve with enthusiasm and excellence, from working the assigned tasks to building relationships with the people we are serving.

Our positive spirit, servant attitude, and trip preparation will communicate volumes to our host. Valley teams should be seen as a blessing! It is often said of Valley teams, “They were one of the best prepared groups we have ever hosted.” Help us to maintain that standard by the way you participate.

But Moses’ hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. (Exodus 17:12)

For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.
    (2 Corinthians 9:12)

We go to WATCH the works of God.

Going on a short-term trip allows us to see the work of God in another part of the world — work that we won’t hear about in the media.

While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles. (Acts 10:44-45)

We go to bear WITNESS to the works of God to our home church.

We have the opportunity to testify about God’s work abroad to our church family and friends when we return home.

But Peter began and explained it to them in order...When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.”
    (Acts 11:4, 18)
