Bible Time: Matthew 21:1-11

On Palm Sunday, people celebrated Jesus by waving branches from palm trees as he rode by on a donkey.  We can celebrate Jesus every day.

Video: Watch from 5:17 to 6:49

Question time:

Why do we call today Palm Sunday?  (Because the people waved branches from palm trees to celebrate Jesus.)

How can we celebrate Jesus?  (By thanking him for our many blessings and talking about him with our friends and family.)

In the video, Jesus cried because some people didn’t believe that he had come to rescue them.  Then is today a sad day?  (No, it’s not a sad story because it has such a happy ending. Next week we’ll talk about that happy ending, which we call Easter.)

This Week's Memory Verse Challenge

"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'  The second is this:  'Love your neighbor as yourself.'  There is no commandment greater than these." (Mark 12:29-31 NIV)

A Time to Bless Others

As Valley's people navigate this unique season of life, we believe we all can be a blessing. Please find some suggestions below. Whether you use these ideas, or they spur on ideas of your own, we can all make a big impact if we all do our part!

Offer to Serve the Vulnerable
Do you live near someone elderly, sick, pregnant, or who's working from home and looking after kids? View and print a card that's just one way to offer your help and share your love.

Share a Dinner from a Local Vendor
Know someone who is working really hard? Order dinner from a local business and drop it off for a neighbor. Both will be blessed!

Call Someone Who Lives Alone
Social distancing is hard enough when the house is full. Reach out to those who are navigating this time alone.

Write a Letter
With all the online activity these days, a handwritten note can be a special sign of caring.

Tithe Your Essential Supplies
When picking up essentials for yourself, consider donating 10% to a neighbor. Who wouldn’t love some toilet paper showing up at the door?

Blessing Bingo
View  our “Blessing Bingo” card and see if you can get a "Bingo" one time per week!
