At Valley, we want every child, teenager, and adult to feel welcomed, loved, and secure as a part of the body of Christ who gather here. We believe everyone deserves an equal opportunity to worship, learn, and serve in our church, regardless of their abilities.
Our church building is fully accessible to people with all levels of physical ability, with ramps, seating, handicapped facilities, and an elevator. We also have amplification devices for the hearing impaired available in the Welcome Center at the Connect Desk. Please call us at (860) 673-6826 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday, or email us at if you have questions about accessibility or any of our special needs programs.
Valley is happy to be able to offer a Buddy Program for children up through Grade 5 who have special needs. This program allows them to participate, along with their peers, in the classroom environment on weekends and during Tuesday Clubs by assigning an adult "buddy" to work one-on-one with each special needs child.
Each child participant's individual needs are carefully considered before they are matched with a buddy, and all buddies are screened through our comprehensive KidSafe program. Of course, the child's parents/guardians have input into where and when the child participates in every church environment. To learn more about the Buddy Program, please contact Lois Hales, our Director of Children's Ministry. Please be aware we are unable to accommodate new children with a buddy on a same-day basis. We look forward to welcoming you and your child to Valley!
STARs is a place for youth with special needs (Grade 6 and higher) to be comfortable and engaged so their parents or caregiver can attend church and/or a Weekend Community knowing their student is safe and well cared for. Learning and faith-based activities are provided. Stars is available during the 5 p.m. service on Saturday and at 10:30 a.m. Sunday mornings.
As with our Buddy Program, we assess each individual participant's needs and abilities before they can be placed into a program. For information about Stars, or to schedule an appointment with a pastor to tell us abut your student and see if the STARs program is right for you, please contact Laura Costley in our Valley Care ministry. Or, fill out this form about your child and we will contact you. Participation in STARs must be arranged in advance.
You can serve by just being a friend! Our Special Needs ministries are looking for volunteers to serve! If you may be interested in volunteering to spend time with teenagers and young adults in STARS (Shine Together And Rejoice) so that parents can attend a worship service, please contact Laura Costley at .
If you can sign up to be a buddy during worship or Tuesday clubs, contact Lois at .
